INAUGURAL CONFERENCE A SUCCESS

The Caribbean Israel Leadership Coalition, in partnership with the Barbados Investment Development Corporation and the Barbados Manufacturing Association, hosted the first Israel Innovation and Technology Conference and Exhibition for the Caribbean in Barbados on June 7th and 8th, 2017 at the Barbados Hilton Hotel.

This trade and national development innovation conference is a by-product of the Government of Israel’s desire to present an economic, innovation and technology initiative to the Caribbean nation states. This initiative is similar to what it presented to African Heads of State at the recently concluded Israeli Innovation and Technologies in Africa event at the United Nations (UN) in New York. These solutions will include but are not limited to; Agricultural Innovations, Waste Disposal and Waste to Energy Technology, Alleviating of Water Scarcity Innovations, Solar Technology Innovations, Cyber Security Innovations, Medical Innovations, Rapid Construction and many others.

The format of the 2-day event was as follows:

  1. Opening Ceremony

  2. Presentations of the Caribbean-relevant and business-ready Israeli technology

  3. Pre-arranged business-to-business and business-to-government meetings

  4. A Night to Honour Israel – Closing Ceremony

The event proved to be a huge success as over three hundred persons attended representing many of the Region’s largest companies and Governments alike.

The Israeli Delegation included several of Israel’s largest companies, with a diverse offering of products and services. They included LR GROUP,IDE, MER Group, PALGAG, NaanDanJain Irrigation, Yarotek, Arrow Bio and DIGNIA SYSTEMS Ltd to name a few.

The Hon. Richard Sealy – Minister of Tourism & International Transport was the featured speaker for the conference, and he graced us with his presence on several occasions, taking time out from his busy schedule to make sure that the Israeli Delegation recognized that the Government of Barbados fully supported this event.

Ambassador of Israel to the Caribbean – His Excellency Mordehai Amihai Bivas, made the opening remarks and spent the entire two days being involved in one way or the other to help see this vision becomes a reality. Pastor Mario Bramnick, Chairman -CILC, Dr. Peter Morgan – Director CILC, Dr. Pepe Ramnath – Director CILC, and Mr. Eliezer Sandberg and Mayaan Navon who headed the Israeli Delegation also joined us and were all integral in making this event the success it was. Ambassador Jennifer Aird of Dominica along with several delegations such as Surinam, BVI, USVI, Grenada, Trinidad & Tobago, St. Kitts/Nevis, and Jamaica were all in attendance.

Each Delegation had the opportunity to address the conference, explaining in great detail what it was that they were bringing to the table, and many of the attendees were able to have Business to Business meetings with the Israeli Company representatives and work out “going forward” as the details of doing business with Israel became a reality.

The host of the event was Caribbean Israel Leadership Coalition headed by its President Bishop Andre Thomas.

We thank and congratulate the large team of persons whose hard work made this event something that everyone will be talking about for years to come.
